Tooth veneers have long been used to create the ultimate smile makeover.

What are veneers?

A tooth veneer is a thin layer of porcelain or composite that is fitted over the front surface of the tooth. Veneers are laboratory fabricated bespoke facings that are bonded to the surface of the tooth. The porcelain is firstly etched and then the veneer is bonded onto the surface of the tooth, nominal alteration to the tooth surface is needed.

The main benefits are the materials attractiveness. Aesthetically tooth veneers are attractive and the likeness to a real, perfect-looking tooth. Our lab can produce them with added features, for example, enhanced whitening, extra opacity and shading that will be a very close match to your natural teeth. Porcelain is stain free unlike composite resin therefore its appeal lasts for longer.

We work closely with our dental lab. We can ask the technician to produce a more level look to the teeth. With this treatment it is possible to transform badly crooked, stained, damaged or worn teeth. They can change the appearance of gaps and spaces. They also can conceal discoloured teeth as well as fillings to give you a fantastic smile.

1. Consultation
Call our patient experience team and they will arrange a convenient FREE consultation.
2. Examination / Quotation
The dentist will explain the treatment procedure taking into consideration your concerns and needs. The dentist will also give you an accurate cost of the treatment as well as other options available to you. Impressions may be taken at this appointment to provide study models. The models are used to create a ‘wax up’ to show what the changes will be like before the treatment is carried out. X-rays may also required to assess the health of the tooth/teeth.
3. Preparation
Some tooth veneers do not entail any preparation. These are called 'non prep veneers'. If your tooth/ teeth do require some preparation, this will be completed on the front surfaces of your teeth so that they can accommodate the veneers. This entails possibility of numbing the tooth first and taking off a very small amount (0.5 - 0.7mm) of the tooth surface.
4. Impressions / Moulding
An impression (moulds) are then taken. This impression is then sent to our laboratory, who then constructs the veneers. Temporary veneers then may be placed. A further appointment will be made in 1-2 weeks, for your dentist to receive the veneers back from the laboratory. A shade is also taken and the dentist will involve you at this process especially if you request a colour change.
5. Testing / Bonding
Before the veneer is permanently cemented to the front of the tooth, the dentist will temporarily place it on your tooth to examine its fitting correctly and to check the shade. We use different shaded cements so the colour at this point can be slightly changed if necessary. Once you are happy, the veneer will be bonded onto the tooth surface using a strong cement. The bonding process is activated by a special curing light, which will be placed over the tooth. Your bite will then be evaluated, and if necessary final adjustments can be made. The veneer is then finished and polished.
6. Aftercare
The dentist will then show you how to maintain your oral health, including flossing or interdental instruction. They will also show you interdental aids to help you care for your new smile.
